Issues of cooperation between Belarus and Nicaragua discussed at the Development Bank

A representative delegation of the Republic of Nicaragua headed by Adviser for investments, trade, and international cooperation to President of Nicaragua Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo is on a working visit to Minsk.

The business program of foreign guests began with a meeting with First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Belarus Nikolai Snopkov and Deputy Head of the Belarus President Administration Alexandr Egorov, where issues of economic cooperation between the two countries were discussed. After that, negotiations were held at the Development Bank with the participation of representatives of the financial institution, Belarusian state and private companies.

"I am glad to welcome you to the Development Bank, the place where joint projects were born with your participation, which are already being successfully implemented. Your visit clearly confirms close and friendly relations between our countries and high mutual interest in building up economic cooperation," Chairman of the Management Board of the Development Bank Siarhei Staliarchuk welcomed the guests.

He thanked the official delegation of Nicaragua for significant work in the creation of financial infrastructure for the implementation of export credit projects and drew attention to the fact that the joint work is already yielding results: Belarusian equipment has been used by public utilities for the improvement of the capital of Nicaragua for more than two months.

Also, the Development Bank and the Ministry of Finance of Nicaragua signed loan agreements totaling more than $79 million in July for the delivery of 700 units of Belarusian equipment, which will be used in various sectors of the economy of Nicaragua.

Today, the Development Bank acted as a consolidated platform for the presentation of goods of Belarusian manufacturers. During the negotiations, the Nicaraguan delegation was presented with the products of leading enterprises of the pharmaceutical industry, as well as manufacturers of fire and road-building equipment.

The head of the official delegation, Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo, thanked the Development Bank for opening a credit line for Nicaragua and noted the importance of continuing joint work.

"The presence at today's meeting of companies with which we are already cooperating and new Belarusian organizations will allow us to discuss more specifically the issues of building up bilateral cooperation," Laureano Facundo Ortega Murillo said.

At the end of the meeting the parties agreed to continue active work on the comprehensive development of trade and economic relations between the two countries and prompt implementation of joint projects.
